My top 10 favourite love songs

I'm feeling extra jiwang tonight, which is rare because I rarely show my jiwang-ness.

In case some of you don't know, jiwang is a Malay slang for sentimental.

Since I'm feeling jiwang/sentimental, I'm going to list down my top 10 favourite love songs (Youtube videos included) that I would like to include in our (me and my future husband who currently remains a mystery for me to solve) love song CD mix.

#10 Irony by Seriously

I've been a fan of Seriously since 2009. With their catchy beat and light hearted lyrics, what's not to like about this track?

#9 Baby It's Fact by Hellogoodbye

Baby, it's fact. All of it's true. They way black is black and blue which is blue. My love is true, it's a matter of fact. Oh and you love me too. It's as simple as that. Baby, our love is true.

#8 Tonight I Know by Chester See

This song describes how I feel every time I have a crush/fall in love with someone, except for the 'Tonight I Know' part.

#7 Valentine by Kina Grannis

To be honest, Valentine's Day is non-existent in my calendar but this sing is just so sweet :)

#6 I Won't Give Up Until You're Safe and Sound by Ryan Narciso

This is a mash up of Jason Mraz's I Won't Give Up and Taylor Swift's Safe and Sound. They actually go together.

#5 In Your Arms by Kina Grannis

#4 A Short Little Song About Love by Nice Peter

This is a short and sweet song about love.

#3 All My Love by Cameron Mitchell

This is an original song by Cameron Mitchell from the Glee Project. What I like about this song is that it makes you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside.

#2 This is a Way by David Choi

#1 You're a Gift by Dante Give Me Motion

I can listen to this song for a million times and can still melt. Seriously.

Ramadhan Review Special: Arranged

Synopsis

Two young women — one an Orthodox Jew, the other Muslim — meet and become friends as first-year teachers at a public school in Brooklyn. Over the course of the year they learn they share much in common, not least of which is that they are both going through arranged marriages.

This film is actually based on a true story of an Orthodox Jewish woman named Yuta Silverman who is also an executive producer of this film.

The film started out in the library of a public school where first year teachers had an ice breaking session. Nasira Khalidi, a Muslim of Syrian descent was up first. Followed by an Orthodox Jew Rochel (pronounced: Ro-Hel) Mashenberg. At first, they didn't talk to each other. Their friendship began when some students began to make some prejudicial remarks towards them. Nasira was teaching the class while Rochel was there to assist a blind student in that class as Rochel specialized in special children education and they were called to Principal Jacoby's office because of that. Another thing that strengthen their friendship is that both of them are going through the process of arranged marriage hence the title). Rochel went through a process called sadkhan which involves an arranged date set up by the matchmaker while Nasira went through the usual family coming to her house to meet her family. What I like about this move is that they portray Nasira's family as non-judgmental and not oppressive. Contrary to what's been reported by Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International and whatnots, when it comes to arranged marriage, both Nasira's parents did not force her to enter into arranged marriage. They actually want what's best for Nasira and took into account of Nasira's personal opinion. And, when Nasira finally found a match, they gave their blessings seeing how happy Nasira is. Meanwhile, Rochel was struggling in meeting a match of her own. Basically, she was pressured by her family to get married quickly (reminds you guys of something right?) in order to avoid diminished prospects of her sister Naomi.

On another note, this film also criticizes the liberalists and the secularists. For example, Principal Jacoby who is a secular Jew felt that it was her job to modernize both Nasira and Rochel which I think is unnecessary. In some way, I felt that Jacoby was disrespectful of both of their culture and try to force her beliefs to them.

In my opinion, this film is worth a watch. It is a feel good romantic comedy film with a hint of culture. Yes, you guys get to learn some culture, especially when it comes to Orthodox Jewish culture. This film also portrays that people can be modern and keep up with the current time while adhering to their faiths at the same time.

This film shows how individual relationships can transcend age-old divisions and shows that in the search for love, true friends know best.

Rating: 4.5/5

[Spotlight] Lindsey Stirling

Meet Lindsey Stirling everybody!

Or Hip Hop Violinist as they call her on America's Got Talent!!!!

I'm so excited for this Spotlight entry now. Why? Because this is the first spotlight entry ever that features a girl I realized that I've always write spotlights on dudes. Not that I don't like it, it's just I feel that it's about time I feature a girl

Well, on to Lindsey then.

She is a violinist, composer, performance artist, dancer and musician from Utah. She was born in Orange County, California but stayed in Utah. She was first interested in classical music records played by her father when she was 5 years old. Due to that, she requested the opportunity to learn and play the violin.

She was classically trained through private lessons for 16 years. She joined a rock band called Stomp on Melvin with four friends. As part of her experience with Stomp on Melvin, she wrote a solo violin song. Her performance helped her to win both title of Arizona's Jr. Miss in 2005 and the talent category of the National Jr. Miss Pageant.

Shortly after her performance in America's Got in 2010 (which she was a quarter finalist), cinematographer Devin Graham contacted her through Facebook to make a music video together. She replied a few months later and they scheduled to shoot her first music video for her song, Spontaneous Me. The video gave a major boost to Lindsey's popularity and she began to make music videos for her Youtube channel. Both Lindsey and Devin began dating after the release of her second music video, Transcendence. They've been together ever since and frequently collaborated with each other in making Youtube videos.

She always experimented in combining violin with hip-hop, dubstep and shuffling. She also has collaborated with other Youtubers such as Peter Hollens, Megan Nicole, Eppic, Jake Bruene and Frank Sacramone.

If you guys are into classical music with a modern twist, Lindsey Stirling is for you. And, if you like cute quirky girls doing what they do best, then she is definitely for you as well. I was interested in her when she collaborated with Megan Nicole to cover Starships by Nicki Minaj and I was hooked on her ever since. I just couldn't get enough of her talent and quirkiness (and the hair). She's not like those boring type of classical musicians who would just stand or sit down while playing their instruments. She actually dances and experiments in different genres to keep people entertained.

Here are some of her videos:

Talk You Down

I really like this song :)
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/t/the_script/talk_you_down.html ]

The Script : Talk You Down

Songwriters: O'DONOGHUE, DANIEL JOHN / SHEEHAN, MARK ANTHONY

I can feel the colour running
As it's fading from my face
Try to speak but nothings coming
Nothing I could say to make you stay
Grabbed your suitcase called a taxi
It's 3am now where you gonna go?
Gonna stay with friends in London
And that's all I get to know

Just a cigarette gone
No you couldn't' be that far
So I'm driving in my car
Where I hope you are
Maybe I can talk you down
Maybe I can talk you down

We're standing on a tiny ledge
Before this goes over the edge
Gonna use my heart and not my head
And try to open up your eyes
This is relationship suicide

Cos if you go, I go...

Taking shortcuts through the alleys
While your racing through my mind
Cops can chase but they wont catch me
Not before I get to speak my mind
If there's still time

Just a cigarette gone
No you couldn't be that far
So I'm driving in my car
Where I hope you are
Maybe I can talk you down
Maybe I can talk you down

We're standing on a tiny ledge
Before this goes over the edge
Gonna use my heart and not my head
And try to open up your eyes
This is Relationship suicide

Cos if you go, I go...
Cos if you go, I go...
Cos if you go, I go...
Cos if you go, I go...

We're standing on a tiny ledge
Before this goes over the edge
Gonna use my heart and not my head

Just a cigarette gone
No you couldn't be that far
So I'm driving in my car
Where I hope you are
Maybe I can talk you down
Maybe I can turn around

We're standing on a tiny ledge
Before this goes over the edge
Gonna use my heart and not my head
And try to open up your eyes
This is Relationship suicide

And it's ALL About Perspective~: Of Being Righteous

And it's ALL About Perspective~: Of Being Righteous: To everybody who always thinks they're always right, you're too good to be true. There's no such thing as i was always right and you were...

My Blogging History

I first started to blog in the end of 2001 at Teen Open Diary (that website is closed right now, visit Open Diary) under the name Jessica Alba. However, I forgot all about that and made a new account under the name Padme Adrianna. In 2003, Xanga was in the rage among my firends so I made a Xanga account under 2 names: Padme Adrianna and Frankie Muniz74 (I had a huge crush on Frankie Muniz at that time). I deleted my Padme Adrianna Xanga because I prefer my Frankie Muniz74 blog. It became my most updated blog until the year 2004 when I discovered LiveJournal. I made an LJ account and it became my main blog ever since. Actually I made a Blogger account in 2006 as a roleplay blog. I played as Archie Johnson from CSI and I made some blogvels (blog novels) and deleted that account due to writer's block, plus I want to create a new account. Hence, Doo Joon-I-Tis was born. Taa-daa!

My lecturer once told me....

If someone insults/degrades Islam, please don't get too emotional.

Kalau orang kutuk/hina Islam, jangan cepat melatah.

Instead, just calmly and diplomatically explain to them of their misconceptions.

For example:
You told me that you don't like war but you have to support it cause your brother's in it.
You know how stupid that sounds.
Well, if your brother fell into the sewer, are you going to stand and say, "Hell yeah! I support this sewer. He can die but he has to stay."

Lagi kau rage, lagi banyak lah modal yang diorang dapat. That actually gives them reasons to insult Islam more.

What I'm trying to say: Advise, don't fight. With advising, you can be sarcastic while you're at it.

Budaya print screen (kau nak mengeji ke nak menyedarkan? part 2)

Hi, this is not Diyana blogging. This is Jason, her friend. Basically, this post is bound to offend (that's why she summoned me instead). It was this: she feels that she's too nice to post angry post on Blogger (but she has nooo problems whatsoever posting them on LJ). Apparently, she has a new phobia next to ophidiophobia (snakes) and guyphobia (boys) she has a new one: printscreenophobia. Printscreenphobia is refusal to post status, blogs or tweets fearing that some irresponsible idiots would print screen it thinking it's controversial and share it to the public hoping it will go viral.

She seemed to take it pretty hard. Sekejap post, sekejap delete. Sekejap post, sekejap delete. Kalau publish pun, private kan. Bukan dia tak percaya kawan dia, cuma dia tak nak orang print screen barang dia tanpa izin. Bagi dia, itu invasion of privacy.

If anybody else want to see their post, they damn well go to her profile and view it. Dia tak expect kau print screen dan tunjuk kat dunia. You're just being redundant and she will suffer profile view loss (dia tak kisah pun siapa view profile dia, let alone berapa views dia dapat everyday).

2. Tapi, apa yang orang cakap tu tak patut lah!

You might be right but that doesn't justify your actions. If what he/she said was offensive/rude like you said and you really want to menyedarkan, kau patut drag diorang somewhere private and slow talk ngan diorang. Kalau nak guna keganasan pun, kau tampar muka tu cukuplah! Tu baru menyedarkan.

3. Tapi, orang lain kena ambik iktibar dari perkara ni!

Hahaha!!!!!! Hampir nak pecah perut aku gelak dengar statement ni. Kau cuba tengok komen diorang. Cuba tengok hate page dan wall post diorang. Kalau ada Twitter, try tengok dan baca. Kebanyakan komen pun bukannya baik sangat. Lagi teruk adalah. Mintak doa laknat lah, ugut bunuh/sembelih lah, ini lah itu lah. Menyedarkan ke? Nak bagi nasihat? Berhikmah ke tu? Tak! Mengeji tu adalah. Honey, tak tau ke kalau kau mengeji memang ke laut lah orang tu? #truestory

Bila orang tu mintak maaf, kau pertikaikan lah, kutuk lah. Kau nak diorang buat apa supaya kau tak kutuk diorang lagi? Bunuh diri? That doesn't sound so bad. Maybe they should kill themselves so you guys will stop harassing them. They don't deserve to be harassed by you guys! Your actions are just disgusting! You should be ashamed of yourself. You guys are cowards, okay. Cowards! If you really want to set them straight, you could've been upfront and told them straight. But nooooo!!!! You guys decided to print screen it for all to see. Don't you guys realize that you are also jeopardizing their safety (and sanity)? With all those doa laknat wishes and death threats can really drive someone up the wall.

Diyana tu pun satu. Coward jugak. Bab marah-memarahi kat Blogger ni, dia terus panggil aku. Yelah, aku tau aku selalu kutuk2 dan maki2 dia. Tapi, kalau aku yang buat camtu kat dia, memang dia akan fire balik. Entah kenapa dia tak boleh fire balik kat korang. I also don't know.

PS: Diyana pesan that the label 'malay' refers to language, not race.

Alhamdulillah.......

Feeling: Grateful
Listening to: Missing Piece by David Choi

Alhamdulillah. I made it. I mean, we made it. I caused a drama when I absentmindedly typed in my old student ID instead of my IC. I tweeted to my friend, Mior about it. He told me to appeal. Then, when I want to recheck my results, I saw the instruction said to type in my IC. D'oh!!!! Once I typed in my IC, what do you know? I made it!!! Told Mior about it. He jokingly called me attention seeker. Dude, it's an honest mistake. He made it to LLB as well. Yay!

Welcome to LLB. Goodbye colours, hoodies, jeans and t-shirts. Hello black and white, punch card, early mornings, late nights, over piling work and... hell.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!

This. Is how my seniors looked like when they found out my friends and I made it to LLB. Err.... at least that's how I imagine how they would look like. This include the cute innocent looking ones.

Just kidding!!!!! But seriously... we're still buddies right guys?

Aww, come on. Look at him. We're buddies. Right? Meow meow?

Anyway, I would like to say to all of my friends who made it to LLB:

WE MADE IT!!!! WOO-HOO!!!!!!
